- bBaseIII Revision History (V2.0 and subsequent)
- ===============================================
-
- Version 2.0a: Internal - January 1994
-
- * Can now adjust the screen colors from within the program.
- * Program now uses the WB2.04 Wait Pointer.
- * Added "Merge a Database" to the Project Menu. Two similar databases
- may now be combined.
- * <Alt-x> combination (to blank the requester) changed to <Ctrl-x>.
- Also added <Ctrl-q> (start of line), <Ctrl-w> (jump to next word),
- and <Ctrl-e> (end of line). By using the Control characters, more
- of the Alternate character set can be used for input, eg. the © sign
- (Alternate - e).
- * <Alt-s> combination (Save On-Off) changed to <Ctrl-s>.
- * The "Show All Records" and "Show Tagged Records" windows are much
- improved, as they now utilize slider bars.
- * Added Menu Item "Add - RAM:bBase_clip". This is a sort of a
- 'clipboard'. If a record is Printed (Copied) to a File, and that
- file is the default (RAM:bBase_clip), then that record can be added
- to another database, if the structure is similar.
- * When a database is loaded, bBase will now check and display the
- memory available to it, along with an indication of how 'full' the
- database is. This action can also be performed at any time by using
- the "Show Available Memory" item of the Project Menu, or by pressing
- the <M> key.
- * Added "Add Record At" to the Add Menu. When a record is added,
- you can now specify where in the database it will be, instead of it
- being automatically added as the last record.
- * Added "Help" to the Project Menu. The file "bBase.guide", or
- "bBase.doc" can now be accessed from within bBaseIII, if it is
- situated in the Current Directory. Your favorite Text Reader
- will be recognized, and loaded to display it.
- * The time required to Scramble/DeScramble a file has been cut almost
- in half.
-
- Version 2.1: Released May 1994
-
- * May now specify a form-feed position, or suppress form-feeds
- entirely, from the Print Menu.
- * It is no longer required to append an asterisk (!) after the
- filename when using the "-f" switch, but the "-f" switch must now
- be the last switch used on the command line.
-
- Version 2.11: Released June 1994
-
- * It was possible to crash the program when Enabling/Disabling the
- Note option, if several warnings were ignored. The process has now
- been changed to avoid this.
-
- Version 2.12: Released June 1994
-
- * The program is the same as V2.11, but references to "auto-loading
- icons" have been deleted. If bBase was started using IconX, (ie.
- double-clicking on a database icon), the computer would freeze if
- an attempt were made to load another database the normal way, by
- using either <F2> or the menus. Databases must now be loaded from
- within the program. Seemed like a good idea at the time :^).
-
- * The memory in the Convert program has been expanded, as it would
- fizzle out when converting large databases.
-
- Version 3.01: Released August 1994
-
- * bBaseIII now opens on an interlaced screen, using the Topaz 11 font.
- The number of fields has been increased to 16, and the number of
- Note rows decreased to 8. All 24 lines of data are visible on the
- screen at the same time.
- * The built-in color palette adjuster has been removed, as I was
- unable to get the color.library and the diskfont.library to work
- together. See the docs for the new method of changing bBase colors.
- * Any number of records may now be UnDeleted, and may be undeleted
- to any desired location in the database.
- * The Change menu has been renamed the Edit menu.
- * The "Print Displayed Record to a File" Menu item has been removed.
- This operation can be performed with more flexability by simply
- tagging it, and selecting "Print Tagged Records" in the "Print
- Options Window".
- * Added "Text Reader" to the Edit menu, to change the reader that will
- be loaded when the Help key is pressed.
- * Changed the method used to track the record data. Some operations
- are now considerably faster, but most are still the same.
- * The 'blank requester' key is changed to the <Tab> key. It was too
- easy to shut down the program by mistake, as the previous <Ctrl-x>
- was too close to <Ctrl-c>. I should have thought of that.
- * A configuration file (S:bBase.prefs) can now be used to load
- customized values, such as the color palette and text reader.
- * Finally got Bold print working properly with mailing labels.
- * Fixed some printing problems.
- * Added "Top Margin" to the Print menu, so that printing can start
- a given distance from the top of the page. This was added
- primarily for those with sheet-feed printers.
- * Added the ability to suppress the memory check normally made when a
- database is loaded, either by the -m switch, or by an entry in
- the configuration file.
- * Fixed a bug which would generate an error if more than half of the
- tagged records were untagged, one at a time.
